   Every IVF clinic claims that they are the best and that every patient should come to them for treatment.    Basically, what should be kept in mind is that the treatment should be cost effective. It should provide you the value for money in the long run… whether you are purchasing anything or opting for any procedure.
   The right treatment, at the right price and that is the place you visit. Dr. Kamini Rao Hospitals is one such place. The best IVF centre in Bangalore, this hospital has two branches. This centre does not do unnecessary stuff in order to cheat a patient or in order to rip them off or in order to make more money for themselves. They provide high quality medical care and have a full-time embryologist. Our services go beyond IVF… we have so much focus that is what we do an extremely good job at. IVF is elective treatment, there are lots of options, who understand that a doctor is not a mind reader, that a doctor wants to treat a patient with care. Dr. Kamini Rao Hospitals wants to invite input from patients, so we can listen to you and try to then create a treatment plan which is tailored for your interests, not something which we think you should do. So we want patients who are assertive, who will do their homework, who will understand what we are doing, why we are doing, who will understand why success rates are never 100%, will understand what is in their hands, what is in the doctor's hands and finally what is in nature's hands.
   What you should be careful of?
   There are such IVF clinics are impersonal, they are assembly line, they use the same standard copy and paste formula for all their patients, they do not apply their mind, there is no continuity of care. Sometimes you see one junior doctor, sometimes you see a second junior doctor, sometimes you see the third, there is a lot of churns… you never see the same senior doctor or perhaps you may see him once at the time of a consultation when he wants you to sign up but you may never see him again. There is no transparency or openness or accountability. There is absolutely no idea about how many follicles, the size, how many eggs, what your embryo quality is, no embryo photos, nothing at all. And it is only when you learn the hard way that a bad IVF doctor has a higher chance of resulting in a failed IVF cycle, when you then appreciate what a good IVF doctor is and then hopefully you will learn the importance of doing your homework and not leaving everything up to a doctor.
   What is IVF procedure? For whom should we do this?
   Usually, empty stomach patients come an hour before we tell them to come in the morning. So, after they come, we give them the instructions. We give them instructions on what medicines to take and how to come. So, we usually call this as a day care procedure. Day care procedure means, we give them a light anaesthesia and keep them in a hospital for 4 to 6 hours.
   In this duration, scanning is done using a transvaginal molecule. We introduce the probe of the scanning and insert a needle. We suck the water bubbles that are visible in the follicles and take them out.
   The follicles or egg that we want to produce is a media, a culture media. From here on, we will require the help of an embryologist. The embryologists check the quality of the eggs and how to inject sperm. They decide and give us a final count.
   After we get the eggs, we get a count of the number of oocytes. So, on the same day, when the husband gives the sperm sample, the embryologists clean it and process it. They inject a healthy sperm into each egg like a needle.
   They do the ICSI procedure. When the embryologists do IVF, they leave around 1000 to 1 million sperm in each egg. This is done for IVF.
   After 3 days, the embryologists assess the quality of the sperm. After 3 days, they check the formation of the embryo. They check the quality of the embryo and the grade of the embryo.
   The embryologists then give you a detailed account of the embryo. So, this is how egg pickup and IVF are done.
   IVF Treatment Cost in Bangalore
   Generally, common people think that this is a very costly treatment. And many patients come to us who say that there is a lot of confusion.
   • Because many centres charge Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 80,000
   • In many centres, this expense is Rs. 1.5 to Rs. 2 lakhs
   Generally, the IVF treatment cost in Bangalore is divided into two parts:
   • The first is the expense of hospital
   • The second is the expense of injections
   Injections are given to women to lay eggs. Before starting IVF, the husband and wife has to undergo couple of procedures. When the eggs are ready, then the egg retrieval, i.e. the process of removing the eggs. During that, the ward charges, the OT charges are included in this. When the eggs are removed, the woman is made unconscious for 10 minutes. In this, the anaesthetist’s fees are included. Embryologist's fees, i.e. the fees of the embryologist. All the media and disposables used are included in this. All the media and disposables used are also included. And the process of embryo transfer, i.e. on the day of embryo transplant. The ward charges and OT charges are included on that day.
   Now the second is the expense of injections. The dose of the injections depends on the age of the woman, her AMH value, i.e. the quality of her eggs and her weight, i.e. her BMI. So some women can take 8, 10 or 12 injections.
   How many types of injections are there?
   • The first is Urinary. This injection is prepared from the urine of the women whose menstruation has stopped. These are a little cheaper injection. In this, you understand that the cost of one injection is around Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,500. But, If we give this injection to someone, then it is a very painful injection. It can cause rashes or allergic reactions. And the most important thing is that the quality of the eggs and the quality of the embryo is not that good. So according to that, the success rate of IVF is also not that good.
   • The second category is highly purified. These are better injections. In these injections, the number of impurities is less. And their cost is around Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 4,500 for one injection.
   • The third injection is made from recombinant DNA technology. These are considered the best injections. Because the quality of the eggs and their number is very good. And the number is also high. In this, the success rate of IVF, which depends on the quality of the embryo, increases. In this, the cost of one injection is around Rs. 8,000.

   If you consider the roundabout, then if you categorize it according to the age of the woman and her BMI, then we can consider it as an expense of Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 90,000. So, if we look at one IVF cycle, it costs around Rs. 1.25 lakh. So, in this way, we saw and understood that in one IVF cycle, most of the expenses are used in injections.
