Filing Still Showing Submitted
Question: My filing is still showing as Submitted but I called the clerk. The clerk told me it has been accepted? Why is it still showing as Submitted?
Answer: There are two possible reasons:
- The clerk just recently accepted it but the submission is not finished processing
- The state eFiling system has not sent us the updated information on the status of your submission
After the clerk accepts a submission, the submission is then processed in the jurisdiction's case management system. Only after that processing has completed is the submission officially accepted. That is when eFileTexas sends you to Accepted Filing email and sends us the updated status for your submission. We have no idea how long this finally processing typically takes but it seems reasonable to expect it to be done within 15 minutes.
We don't know why but the state eFiling system periodically fails to send us the update when the status of a submission changes. In those instances, you can manually obtain the updated status by following these steps:
Login to www.filetime.com
Click the Submissions button on the sub-menu bar (A).
Find the submission for which you want to update the status (B).
Click the Refresh button (C).
The process is slow but FileTime retrieves and displays the current status of the submission. If the submission still displays Submitted you know the submission has not yet officially completed the acceptance process.
