Can I go back and add the case style to a submission?
Question: When I created a new file, I forgot to style the case. Can I go back and put a style in after it has been filed?/p>
Answer: You had no place to add the case style.
We used to have a field for you to enter the style on a new case filing and found out that eFileTexas ignores it. The clerk actually assigns the style for the case.
So, if you are in a large county such as Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, etc. we receive the style from eFileTexas, which receives it from the clerk, after the submission is accepted. You never have to enter the case style for submissions into these jurisdictions.
However, many smaller counties, including Bexar, do not have the ability to provide the case data to eFileTexas so they cannot provide it to FileTime. Therefore, when you submit a subsequent filing in that case you do need to add the missing case style.
