Submitting Scanned PDF Files

eFiled documents submitted to the appellate courts must be text-searchable PDF files and that same requirement will apply to eFilings into the trial courts.

When you scan third-party-signed agreements and exhibits, the resulting PDF files are not text-searchable PDF files. Submit them and you eFiling(s) will be rejected.

After scanning those documents you must run them through an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software process in order to convert the PDF into a text-searchable PDF file.

The simplest way to run them through an OCR process is simply to upload them directly to FileTime during the eFiling process. The FileTime document converter will make those scanned PDF files text-searchable for you.

NOTE: In order to get the best OCR function, be sure to scan your document at 300 DPI. Also be certain to set you scanner to create pages with dimensions of 8.5 inches wide by 11 inches high.
